Keyword Density Calculator
Analyze keyword frequency and density in your content for SEO optimization.
Keyword density is the percentage of times a target keyword appears in a text relative to total word count. While Google no longer uses keyword density as a direct ranking factor, maintaining natural keyword presence (1–3% density) signals topical relevance without triggering over-optimisation penalties. This tool analyses your content for keyword density, distribution, and natural variation — and identifies whether keyword usage looks natural or stuffed.
📋 How to Use This Calculator
Paste your content into the text area and enter your target keyword or keyphrase. The calculator shows keyword frequency, density percentage, keyword distribution across the text (even distribution is better than clustering), top 10 most frequent words (including stop words option), and a recommendation on whether the density is too low, optimal, or potentially over-optimised.
💡 Key Facts & Information
Keyword density benchmarks: Under 0.5%: may be too low for topical relevance signal. 1–2%: generally natural and appropriate. 2–3%: acceptable, verify it reads naturally. Over 3–4%: potentially over-optimised, check if it reads naturally. Over-optimisation (keyword stuffing) was penalised heavily by Google's Panda algorithm (2011). Modern SEO focuses on semantic relevance — use related terms (LSI keywords), synonyms, and natural language rather than mechanical repetition. Google's NLP understands topic even without exact keyword matches. More important than density: keyword in title tag, H1, first 100 words, URL, and meta description.
