The Public Provident Fund (PPF) is India's most popular long-term, tax-free savings scheme backed by the Government of India. With EEE (Exempt-Exempt-Exempt) tax status — contributions deductible under 80C, interest tax-free, and maturity amount tax-free — PPF offers unmatched tax efficiency. This PPF calculator helps you project exactly how much your annual contributions will grow over 15 years or more.

📋 How to Use This Calculator

Enter your planned yearly investment (minimum ₹500, maximum ₹1.5 lakh per financial year) and the tenure (minimum 15 years, extendable in 5-year blocks). The calculator uses the current PPF interest rate of 7.1% p.a. (FY 2025-26, set quarterly by the Government of India) and shows your total invested amount, total interest earned, and final maturity value. The power of PPF becomes clear over long horizons — investing ₹1.5 lakh/year for 25 years generates a tax-free corpus of over ₹1 crore.

💡 Key Facts & Information

PPF accounts can be opened at any post office or authorised bank branch (SBI, HDFC, ICICI, etc.) or fully online. The account has a 15-year lock-in but partial withdrawals are allowed from the 7th year onwards (up to 50% of the balance at the end of the 4th year). Loans against PPF are available from the 3rd to 6th year. You can make deposits in a lump sum or up to 12 instalments per year. NRIs cannot open new PPF accounts but can continue existing ones until maturity. PPF is ideal for conservative investors who want guaranteed, inflation-beating, tax-free returns as part of their retirement planning.
