Grade Calculator

Convert percentage or marks into a letter grade.

📐 Scale: A+ ≥90 · A ≥80 · B+ ≥70 · B ≥60 · C ≥50 · D ≥40 · F <40 (adjust to your institution's actual scale).

The grade calculator determines your final grade based on weighted scores from different assessment components — assignments, midterms, finals, practicals, and attendance marks. It also calculates what score you need on your remaining assessments to achieve a target grade. Essential for students planning study effort and professors designing fair assessment weightings.

📋 How to Use This Calculator

Add each assessment component with its weight percentage and your score (or leave blank if not yet taken). The calculator shows your current weighted grade and projects your final grade assuming average performance on remaining components. Use the "target grade" mode to find the minimum score needed on your final exam to achieve an A, B, or any specific grade.

💡 Key Facts & Information

Weighted grade formula: Final Grade = Σ(Score × Weight) / Σ(Completed Weights). For incomplete assessments, the weight shifts: if 60% of assessments are complete and you have scored 75%, your current weighted average is 75% on 60% of the grade. To achieve 80% overall, you need: (80% − 75% × 0.60) / 0.40 = (80% − 45%) / 0.40 = 87.5% on remaining 40%. Common Indian university weighting: internal assessment 20–40%, university exam 60–80%. Some universities weight attendance separately (5–10%). Lab/practical components are often graded separately with their own weightings.
