Baby Growth Calculator
Compare your baby's weight against the WHO median.
📐 Compares against the WHO median weight-for-age reference point only (0–24 months) — not a full percentile chart. This is an approximation; consult your pediatrician for an accurate growth assessment.
Tracking a baby's growth is one of the most important aspects of infant healthcare. Weight, length, and head circumference are plotted on WHO growth charts to determine whether a baby is growing normally for their age and sex. This baby growth calculator uses the official WHO Child Growth Standards to calculate your baby's percentile for weight, length/height, and head circumference from birth through 5 years, helping parents and paediatricians identify growth concerns early.
📋 How to Use This Calculator
Select your baby's sex, enter their age in months (0–60 months), and input their current weight in kg, length/height in cm, and optionally head circumference in cm. The calculator returns the percentile for each measurement. A percentile of 50 means exactly average for that age and sex. Percentiles between 3 and 97 are generally considered normal. Readings consistently below the 3rd percentile or above the 97th, or a sudden drop across percentile lines, warrant paediatric evaluation.
💡 Key Facts & Information
WHO growth standards (2006) are based on children raised in optimal conditions across six countries: Brazil, Ghana, India, Norway, Oman, and the United States — making them truly international references. The standards describe how children should grow, not just how they do grow. Key milestones: birth weight averages 3.2–3.4 kg; babies typically double birth weight by 5 months, triple it by 12 months. Length increases approximately 25 cm in year one. Head circumference reflects brain growth — the fastest period is 0–6 months. In India, the Indian Academy of Pediatrics recommends using WHO standards for children under 5.
